If you are a relatively new director of continuing education, life long learning or program and events manager within the last year and half, the New Director's Workshop at the SACEM Annual Conference is designed to help you sort through some options and models for overseeing and directing your program.

The New Director's Workshop will be held February 14-15, prior to SACEM's Annual Conference February 15-17. Both will be held at the Blackwell Hotel and Conference Center on the Ohio State University campus in Columbus, Ohio.

The workshop coordinator and primary presenter is Arland Jacobson, Director of the CHARIS Ecumenical Center at Concordia College in Morehead, MN. Arland, who has his PhD in New Testament studies from the Claremont Graduate School, works collaboratively with a number of Christian denominations to offer a variety of continuing education and life long learning opportunities in the Morehead area. His presentations will also be supplemented by a number of different colleagues in life long learning. For example, Greg Kaufmann, Director of the Fisher’s Net on-line portal for life long learning will provide a section about the use of technology and the internet for life long learning and continuing education.

The New Director’s Workshop will draw upon a range of resources and ideas to help you become better equipped to develop and promote continuing education in ministry. Workshop participants will also be invited to contribute from their experience and expertise as we hope to learn about your role as you grow into this new responsibility.

This program is schedule to begin at noon on Thursday, Feb. 14th and will conclude at noon with lunch the following day. For the first 10 registrants for the New Director’s Workshop, SACEM will provide a $50 scholarship or subsidy of the additional cost of coming a day early.
