Dent Davis, Columibia Theological Seminary in Atlanta, was elected to serve as the president of SACEM for the coming year during this afternoon's annual business session. SACEM members are currently meeting for the Annual Conference in Columbus, Ohio.
Janet Maykus from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary in Austin, Texas, was elected to the SACEM board to serve as the Vice President and Stephen Simmons from Moravian Theological Seminary in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, was elected as the secretary.
Also elected to continue serving on the board for the coming year were Skip Cornett from Trinity Lutheran Seminary in Columbus, Ohio; Elise Eslinger from United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio; Chris Hammon from the Wayne E. Oates Institute in Louisville, Kentucky; and Bruce Roberts from Christian Theological Seminary (retired) in Indianapolis, Indiana.
In addition to the regular board members three denominational liaisons were elected to serve as part of the board: Dick Bruuesehoff, the outgoing president of SACEM, representing the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America (located in Chicago, Illinois); Marvin Morgan representing the United Church of Christ (located in Atlanta, Georgia); and HiRho Park representing the United Methodist Church of America (located in Nashville, Tennessee).
Going off the board during this year's annual conference is Larry Dill, Director of the Institute for Clergy Excellence in Huntsville, Alabama.
Other items of business addressed including passing the budgets for 2008 and 2009, and announcing the time and place for the 2009 Annual Conference -- March 6-8 at Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, Georgia.
